Quinnipiac student awarded employee of the year for Quinnipiac, Connecticut

April 15, 2021

Rachel Reyes

Rachel Reyes ’21 was named this year’s student employee of the year — at Quinnipiac as well as for the State of Connecticut!

Reyes, who works in the Learning Commons, is a biology major and co-president of the Asian Student Alliance. She was also selected as one of three students in the region to share the title of The Student Employee of the Year for the New England Region.

The honors were unveiled as part of a virtual celebration as part of National Student Employment Week on April 15 to show appreciation to student employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

At the event, Jimmy Alvarado, of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, was also celebrated as this year’s graduate student employee of the year at Quinnipiac.

At the event, students were recognized for their contributions — with a special presentation to student employees of the year.

“To our student employees, this past year we have seen many challenges and together we have endured,” said Nathan Petropoulos, student employment and HR data assistant. “Your resilience and adaptability have truly been inspiring to watch, as you navigated the transition to remote learning and in many cases remote or hybrid work environments. It is our great privilege to work with you every day and to be able to see you develop into the leaders of tomorrow that we know you are. You play a key role in the success of your fellow Bobcats and the university as a whole and for that, we thank you!”

Each spring, the National Student Employment Association coordinates a selection process and chooses the student employee of the year to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who work while attending college.
