Parents and Families Update: January 2026
Welcome to the Spring!
January 15, 2026
January 15, 2026
I want to remind everyone that academic support is available to all students as they prepare to return to campus. It’s never too late to connect with a Learning Commons coach, an adviser or a faculty member. Starting this process early in the semester is the best way to achieve academic goals and we are here to help every step of the way.
As the new year begins, and beyond academics, I encourage all students to get involved in campus traditions and events, including QTHON (March 21), The Big Event (April 11), D-I games, Spring Weekend (date TBD), Common Hour (every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-1:45 p.m.), and other programs throughout the semester. Students can find all events on our events homepage and on Bobcat Central. College is a time for students to build lifelong connections, and QU Engage is a great place to start.
On the Rocks Pub and Grill at York Hill reopens on Wednesday, January 28, and will operate every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the semester. If your student hasn’t visited yet, this semester is the perfect opportunity! Our next Talks on the Rocks will be Tuesday February 3. Dinner is free for the first 50 students who register; don’t miss out on a great meal and meaningful conversation.
If your student is looking for a job, please have them reach out. We have federal work-study positions and non-federal work-study positions in the dining area.
If you know high school students interested in attending Quinnipiac, please encourage them to visit campus. We are always looking for outstanding students to join our community. Schedule a visit
Thank you for entrusting us with your students’ education. We are honored to be a part of their academic journey. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.
Sincerely,
Tom Ellett
Chief Experience Officer (cxo@qu.edu)
On Thursday, January 29 at the SITE, during Common Hour, students are invited to attend our Spring Engagement Fair to learn more about clubs and organizations on campus. Students can join a club at any point in their college experience, and many groups are eager to welcome new members throughout the spring semester.
Need more information about getting involved, starting a club, or ways to connect with peers? Contact campuslife@qu.edu.
The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is a vibrant piece of campus life where more than 20% of students choose to become members. Membership offers community, avenues for service and philanthropy, lifelong friends and fun! The all-FSL GPA is consistently higher than the all-undergraduate GPA, and our members performed more than 7,330 hours of hands-on service last semester. They also raised an impressive $69,007.94 for philanthropic causes locally and across the country last semester.
Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. is joining us on campus this spring. Those interested in a multicultural sorority should or looking for more information should email fslife@qu.edu. Sigma Chi fraternity will be joining us on campus next fall. Those interested or looking for more information should email fslife@qu.edu.
Save the date: Spring recruitment kicks off on January 21 at 9 a.m. in Burt Kahn (snow date is same time and place, but on the 22). Come meet our organizations at FSL Kickoff. No registration is required, and all are welcome.
If your Bobcat wants to find their home away from home, establish a community of peers with similar values, participate in service/philanthropy events, and have fun, feel free to direct them our way for information about joining. All questions can be directed to email fslife@qu.edu or via Instagram @qufsl.

As required by the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS"), Form 1098-T is mailed by January 31 to all students who had qualified tuition and other related educational expenses paid during the previous calendar year.
The information reported on Form 1098-T is intended to help students evaluate their eligibility for education tax assistantships as part of their federal income tax return. While it is a good starting point, the 1098-T, as designed and regulated by the IRS, does not contain all of the information needed to claim a tax credit. It is up to each taxpayer to determine eligibility for the credits and how to calculate them. IRS Publication 970 "Tax Benefits for Higher Education" as well as Chapter 35 of IRS Publication 17 provide additional information on these credits.
More information about 1098-Ts can be found on the 1098-T page of our website
While the 1098T is mailed to the student, students can also find their 1098T in Self-Service > Tax Information > 1098T Information
The university is closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Please visit the One Stop website for our current hours of operation

The Parking Rules and Regulations will continue to be enforced after the winter break. Please note the following reminders:
First-year students may not bring their vehicle to campus for the Spring term.
Sophomores must park their vehicles in the York Hill Garage.
Juniors, seniors and graduate students should consult the maps which show the parking permit types permitted to park in each lot.
Public Safety enforces all parking rules and regulations and will be ticketing and towing as needed.
Students with three or more unpaid parking violations will have a hold placed on their account and will be subject to towing until the violations are paid in full.
Based on recommendations from QU’s Student Government, we are excited to announce the opening of a new dedicated parking area for commuter students on Mount Carmel Campus: the Northwest Commuter Area for the Spring 2026 term.
This area provides 67 spaces dedicated to commuters, faculty and staff, ensuring more convenient and reliable parking options for our commuters. Please note: These two newly dedicated areas will be strictly enforced. Unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed without prior warning.
Availability: Effective immediately
Location: Northwest section of campus. Please see map below.
Permit Access: Only vehicles with green or dark gray permits may park in this area.
We recognize that many commuters arrive to campus at various high traffic hours and we want to ensure this population has added spaces that assist with their daily parking experiences.

The bookstore has moved to a new location in the former Faculty Office Building (FOB) site. The completion of this project will open approximately 16 spots between the bookstore and the main entrance. This area will permit the same parking as the bookstore lot.
The EV charging stations may only be used for vehicles actively charging. Please see the Parking Rules and Regulations for more details on the EV charging stations.
We would like to remind all students about the parking availability in Hogan. We highly recommend that students who have decals that allow parking in Hogan consider going directly to this lot where there are always numerous parking spaces available.
Please review the parking page of our website to determine where your parking decal enables you to park.
The website, parking rules and regulations and signage will be updated to reflect these new areas in the coming days.
If you have any questions regarding access or parking permits, please contact parking@qu.edu.

Transition to Graduate School Meetings (Accelerated Dual Degree and Dual Degree students)
Congratulations! Your student has almost completed their undergraduate education here at Quinnipiac. We are gearing up to meet with students to assist them in planning and making the transition to their graduate program.
During the fall semester, Graduate Admissions held the initial Transition to Graduate School meeting with students. Katie Ludovico, senior associate director of graduate admissions, explained the admissions process to students and shared the “Transition to Grad School” form, which serves as their application to graduate school at Quinnipiac.
As we kick off the Spring 2026 semester, we will start to meet with students to complete the Transition to Graduate School meetings. These meetings have been scheduled in collaboration with their program directors and/or schools, Graduate Financial Aid, Graduate Student Affairs and Graduate Admissions.
During this second meeting, the students learn about graduate student life and graduate engagement opportunities from Graduate Student Affairs. Graduate Financial Aid shares in-depth information on how to finance their graduate education, including the costs, timelines, and paperwork. All students who attend this session can access the handouts on Blackboard under the Organization section they have been invited to join. This allows them to easily share that information with you. These sessions will be conducted by Heather Hamilton, director of graduate financial aid; Gina Frank, dean of graduate student affairs, and Katie Ludovico, senior associate director of graduate admissions.
