Beginning her journey with a passion for creativity and a uplifting outlook on life, Sophia Goodrow ’26 was determined to find her path no matter where life took her.

At her first college tour, Goodrow found Quinnipiac and knew it was her home. Checking all her boxes, she decided to become a Bobcat as a graphic design major.

Goodrow always had a natural talent for anything involving the arts, but her leading and most impactful way of expressing that was through violin.

“I know I might sound a little dramatic, but anyone who’s played an instrument knows how tedious and challenging it can be to master intricate pieces. The repetitive process of practicing didn’t just give me a lifelong passion I genuinely enjoy, it also taught me the discipline, structure and perseverance that carry over into every area of my life.”

At the start of her sophomore year, Goodrow wanted to explore her passions and take on something new, so she decided to switch her major from graphic design to marketing.

“Switching from graphic design to marketing was not an easy decision, but since college is all about pushing your limits, and challenging yourself, I took the leap and transitioned into the School of Business," said Goodrow. "Marketing absolutely ended up being the right fit for me. It allows me to combine my passion for design, innovation and expression with a more analytical and data-driven mindset.”

Keeping up with the momentum of change, Goodrow joined Kappa Alpha Theta as a sophomore at Quinnipiac.

“I’m not going to lie, I was extremely hesitant about getting involved in Greek life, but a mentor once told me to always be comfortable with being uncomfortable, so I trusted the process and joined Kappa Alpha Theta! My only regret is not joining sooner.”

Goodrow’s next steppingstone to become the professional she is now, was being selected for the QTHON management team. Goodrow, as public relations chair, handled social media, brand cohesion and contact with news outlets.

“It took a lot of long hours of planning and pulling everything together, but the day of the event makes it all worth it,” Goodrow said. “Getting to see the kids smiling and interacting with different organizations across campus puts everything into perspective and reminds you exactly why you do it!”

Goodrow attributes her growth to many experiences she’s had at Quinnipiac. One of Goodrow’s favorite memories comes from her job with the Marketing and Communications office at Quinnipiac, where she worked at a Quinnipiac men's ice hockey game.

“Getting the chance to work behind the scenes with MarCom at a Quinnipiac hockey game was one of those moments I’ll never forget,” said Goodrow. “I had a media pass and was down on the ice with the photographers, capturing videos and photos of the players in real time. Being that close to the action was incredible. It gave me a whole new appreciation not just for the athletes and the work they put in, but also for the fast-paced, detail-oriented work that goes into capturing those moments from a media perspective.”

Excited for her next chapter post-grad, Goodrow reflects on what she learned during her time and gives a piece of advice to coming students.

“Be kind, be understanding, always be willing to hear differing opinions even when you don’t want to, find things that bring you joy and surround yourself with them, work hard, be a supportive friend, keep your friends close and don’t take yourself too seriously," she said.
