LoPresti came to Quinnipiac with a longtime passion for graphic design, creativity and curiosity about decision-making. Those passions naturally led her to major in advertising and integrated communications, a program that combines communications, the arts and marketing-related material into one.
“The professors in the School of Communications have been some of the best people I've met in my entire life,” said LoPresti. “They have all gone so far out of their way to help me and I cannot express my gratitude enough.”
The close nature of LoPresti and her professors made for an environment riddled with passion, learning, growth and friendship.
LoPresti’s academic adviser, Hilary Fussell Sisco, professor of public relations, encouraged her to apply for The Agency, a student-run interdisciplinary advertising agency at Quinnipiac.
Following Sisco's encouragement, LoPresti applied and secured her first role as vice president of social media in The Agency. She then moved up to account executive and eventually director and chief operations officer.
“My roles in The Agency have shaped who I am as a professional,” said LoPresti, “Managing multiple accounts was definitely daunting at first. The biggest thing I learned was delegation and repurposing materials strategically. If I found that a certain style or content idea worked for one client, I would implement that into my campaign for the other clients with their own personal spin on things. Leading social media strategy also taught me how to balance creativity with analytics, that balance is how I build each strategic plan.”
Beyond her work with The Agency, LoPresti further immersed herself in campus life through her involvement in the Chi Omega Iota Mu chapter at Quinnipiac.
During her time in Chi Omega, LoPresti took on a leadership position as marketing director.
Through a strategic content plan, full rebrand and target social media efforts, LoPresti helped boost the chapter's Instagram views by an incredible 672.62%, and quadrupled the page's average post reach from 10,000 to around 40,000 views per post.
“What made this project so meaningful to me was that it showed how heavily branding impacts a client's success.” LoPresti said.
All of LoPresti’s academic work, professional experience and personal drive center on a commitment to helping others. She carried that focus into her role as a digital platforms assistant in the Office of Marketing and Communications, where she wrote impactful stories that highlight individuals from all walks of life.
“During my time as a digital platforms assistant, I've had the pleasure to hear and write so many people's stories. It is such a special thing to be able to translate someone’s biggest achievement into a story.”
The college transformation for LoPresti was immense, she explained.
“Everything about me has evolved since freshman year,” said LoPresti. “My professors at Quinnipiac pushed me to explore new things, take risks, and learn from my mistakes. All of these mistakes, or successes, have led me to be confident in my skills as a professional and confident in myself as a person."
When thinking about her experience across agencies, internships and campus roles, LoPresti sees success on her horizon.
“With the job market being as insane as it is right now, Quinnipiac has prepared me with something that a failing job market can't beat: connections. I have true bonds, relationships and connections with many Quinnipiac students and professors, even guest speakers who have come to campus. As I’ve seen through my time here, these connections are strong.”
LoPresti urges students from all majors to learn from the people around you and to never be afraid to speak up.
“When I was 16, I was an intern at a media production company. We were struggling with a layout for the photoshoot, and everyone was throwing out ideas. Even though I was terrified and new, I shared my idea. They ended up using it, and we loved how the photos came out. My boss later told me it's all about perspective; new people have new ideas, and you never know what the person next to you is thinking, no matter how young or inexperienced they are."
LoPresti plans to move to the Big Apple and follow her dreams of working for an advertising agency. Her role at MikeWorldWide will consist of supporting client work, aiding in content creation and messaging, campaign support and admin work.
Community is one of the biggest things LoPresti will miss about Quinnipiac.
“I will miss the constant community,” she said. “Having a group of people who are always there to lift you up and support you is such a special thing that Quinnipiac has given me.”
