Today, we pause to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — a leader whose vision of justice, equality, and human dignity continues to inspire us.

At Quinnipiac, let us strive to live out Dr. King's vision across our university community, whether in our classrooms, in our meetings, on athletic fields, or in the countless moments that shape our campus life. We affirm the inherent value of every person and draw strength from the richness of our differences and shared values.

In both word and deed, Dr. King continues to challenge us all to create spaces and communities, where listening is active, engagement is respectful, and equality of opportunity and access are lived. While we’ve made progress toward his vision, we must remember that building a society where conflicts are resolved without violence, people are treated with compassion, and everyone feels they belong demands ongoing dedication, dialogue, and action.

As we begin a new year, let us recommit ourselves to carrying out Dr. King’s work and vision as we continue to build a community, where every person belongs and every voice matters. Remember to please join us as we celebrate Dr. King during Dream Week 2026 (January 20-January 29) and all through Black History Month.

Sincerely,

Marie Hardin
