Legends a capella group to compete in international competition

The Legends have performed on many different stages since they sang their first song together in 2012, but this weekend they will perform on perhaps their largest stage yet — the quarterfinals for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Out of the 400 groups that have made it this far, only 80 will move on to the semifinals — and The Legends hope to be one of them.

"We are very confident going in," said Sammie Streff '19, the co-performance coordinator of the group. "We don't like to do anything unless we know we can do it well."

Brenda Alderete '18, president of the group, said that their set list is linked to the experience may students have in college.

"It starts off unsure of what will come next, but we slowly realize that we are stronger and that it's OK to make mistakes," Alderete said. "We have our group members to build us up — and we end up being sure of who we are."

The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella will be held at Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, February 24 at 7 p.m.
