Jeanna Doherty ’94 has been dedicated to serving the Quinnipiac community from her very first semester on campus. While no longer a student, her impact on the university has only continued to grow over the past few decades.

She loved her time as a Bobcat and has always embraced that part of her identity. Since her experiences on campus were so positive, she discovered ways to stay connected even as an accomplished professional.

“I believe in giving back to the organization that has done so much for me so that others can get the same benefit as me,” said Doherty. “Leading the alumni board is one way for me to raise Quinnipiac’s continued mission and profile to other alumni.”

After graduating from Quinnipiac, Doherty immediately began working at Ernst & Young (EY) — working in assurance for healthcare. Her current position, Americas Assurance Environmental, Social and Governance Enablement Leader, has led her to support health sciences clients in their many challenges. While her roles within the company have changed over time, she has always utilized her skills from her successful career path to advise students.

She acts as the EY campus coordinating partner for recruiting to initiate student interest in working at the company, as well as constantly attending university events and mentoring young Bobcats.

She has never doubted her motivation to serve.

It’s a way of giving back to a community that has done so much for me personally,” said Doherty. “I fully believe that we should continue to support and develop our communities so they can continue to do great things for its members.”

She participates in the accounting advisory board; School of Business advisory board; and as an alumni representative on the Quinnipiac Board of Trustees, as well as the chairwoman of the audit committee at Quinnipiac. These require the passion to bring people together and a great deal of time and effort to do so.

Doherty has just that.

Her commitment to the academic and professional success of students and alumni here is the reason why she has now added yet another accomplishment to her extensive list: the Outstanding Service Award.

Heather Alpaugh, senior director of alumni affairs, described Doherty’s significant influence on those around her.

“Through her contributions, both on and off campus, Jeanna continues to make a significant impact, shaping the university's future and nurturing a positive and inclusive environment within the Quinnipiac community," she said.

Doherty was inspired by her professors and mentors during her time as a student, which has propelled her to make a difference on campus.

“The foundational learning I received at Quinnipiac was exceptional,” said Doherty. “Not only was my academic learning exactly what I needed to start the workforce but the personal development and guidance I received as a young person transitioning from student to professional were equally if not more important. My professors and student experiences shaped me for future success.”

Doherty encourages students to take advantage of all the things that Quinnipiac offers and “fill their cups with Bobcat pride.” This motto is one she takes to heart as she seizes every chance she can to influence and connect with the community.

She expressed that equity and inclusivity hold tremendous significance in her life and these values are embedded in everything she does, whether at Quinnipiac, Ernst & Young or whatever other communities in which her path may lead.
