Contact your Graduate school admissions counselor

An admissions counselor meets with a prospective student.

Graduate school admissions counselors know the admissions process, their programs and their university. They are trained experts who will assist you with your research by answering your questions and offer information that may not be found elsewhere. Use them as a resource.

A quick search of a university’s website is a good way to discover general information about the school, your program of interest, admissions requirements, etc. Once you have narrowed down your choices, have a conversation with a graduate admissions counselor. The decision to earn your graduate degree is a personal one and worth the time to learn about the curriculum, community, and alumni of each university that interests you.

Admissions counselors provide prospective graduate students with a comprehensive look at their university. They answer questions that pertain to your unique situation and help you foster a solid understanding of how a graduate degree can help you reach your career goals. They talk with you about roadblocks you may encounter and help you with solutions to overcome those challenges.

Many times, a conversation will uncover questions that you haven’t considered. A graduate admissions counselor is your partner in the admissions and application process. Be sure to stay in touch with them as they are available to answer questions as they unfold, guide you along the way and hold you accountable to your own goals.

"Open communication is important; I want to take the time to ensure the program they choose meets their needs,” said Lee Boyd, Associate Director of Admissions.

At Quinnipiac University, you will work with one admissions counselor and receive personalized service including helpful, individualized communication based on your needs. Be sure to convey your communication preferences as you move along the process. Remember, they are there to assist you.

When you speak with a counselor, be prepared with your own questions. Here are a few questions to get you started:

  • Would you tell me about the community on campus?
  • How does your school/program differ from competitors?
  • Does the program offer internships and are they required?
  • How many hours per week are require for each course I take?
  • How many courses per semester are scheduled?
  • Do you have graduate housing on campus (if applicable)?
  • What modality is this program offered (online vs on campus)?

Admissions counselors want to learn about you too. It is encouraged to share how this graduate degree will help you reach your personal and professional goals. They may ask you where you received your bachelor’s degree and the discipline studied to assess your credentials against the program.

If you plan on working while earning your degree, you will want to discuss part-time vs. full-time options. These and other questions help your graduate admissions counselor assess the feasibility of the program with your expectations.

Create a partnership to gather as much information as you can before you apply to the school. Once you decide which schools to apply to, keep your communication open as you move through the entire application process.

Quinnipiac University graduate admissions counselors stand ready to partner with you along your enrollment journey. Contact one of our experienced team members and take the first steps in learning how Quinnipiac can support your future goals.
