Parents and Families Update: March 2026
Campus is Bustling with Activity
March 12, 2026
March 12, 2026
One of the joys I have is working closely with student-led groups, such as On the Rocks Pub and Grill, Waking Giant Café, bodybuilding club and the 1929 scholarship fund. The 1929 team is once again inviting seniors to donate $19.29. In appreciation, participating students will receive a graduation cord. Additionally, families can purchase a senior 1929 hoodie. You are welcome to donate on their behalf, and items may be picked up a the CXO office in the library. Donate to the 1929 Fund
The 1929 Fund students are also hosting another Breakfast in Bed event on April 18, where students will deliver breakfast by golf cart directly to residence hall rooms. Keep an eye out for the sign‑up link so you can register your Bobcat for this fun and meaningful event.
This year marks the 15th annual GAME Forum, taking place March 19 to 20 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The event attracts more than 1,300 participants from more than 125 universities, featuring 30 panels, 100+ speakers and representatives from 70 companies. It is the largest student-run event of its kind in the world. All students are encouraged to attend. Congratulations to the dedicated student leaders who make this remarkable program possible. More information can be found on the GAME Forum website
QTHON returns soon. This eight-hour dance marathon raises funds for children in need and brings together students, alumni, faculty and staff. Last year, students raised more than $180,000, contributing to more than $1.7 million raised over the past decade. We hope your Bobcat stops by the RecWell Center on Saturday, March 21 to support this incredible cause. Many thanks to our QTHON leadership team.
The spring semester is full of opportunities for engagement: On April 13 I am hosting this year’s final session of Talk on the Rocks connecting seniors with alumni from variety of professions.
The Big Event is on April 11. Please have your Bobcat sign up for this impactful day of service. On the Rocks Pub and Grill is offering weekly programming. Follow along on Instagram for updates. Greek Week is April 6 to 10, and, of course, weekly Common Hour programming, all can be found on the university calendar. Explore the Quinnipiac calendar
As always, if you have any questions or need support as you assist your student, please reach out to us at QUParents@qu.edu
Tom Ellett
Chief Experience Officer (cxo@qu.edu)
Students are invited to take part in QTHON, the university’s annual dance marathon, which will be held on Saturday, March 21. All students are welcome to participate, and donations will directly support Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Save the date for the Student Programming Board’s Wake the Giant concert, scheduled for Sunday, April 26.
As campus life becomes especially active after spring break, students should check Bobcat Central daily. Many student organizations will be hosting large‐scale spring events throughout the second half of the semester. There is plenty happening on campus right up until the last day of the spring term.
The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is a vibrant piece of campus life where more than 20% of students chose to become members. Membership offers community, avenues for service and philanthropy, lifelong friends and fun! The all-FSL GPA is consistently higher than the all-undergraduate GPA, and our members performed more than 7,330 hours of hands-on service last semester. They also raised an impressive $69,007 for philanthropic causes locally and across the country last semester.
Save the date for Greek Week 2026. This year’s theme, Keeping Up with Greek Week, gives each team a reality television show to bring to life in a new way! We invite you to attend our signature events during the week of April 6:
FSL’s Got Talent – Monday, April 6 in the M&T Bank Arena at 9:15 p.m.
Watch members of the FSL community display their talents for a chance to win.
Step, Stroll, Salute Showcase – Tuesday, April 7 in the M&T Bank Arena at 8:30 p.m.
Celebrate the culturally based fraternities and sororities on our campuses, and in the greater New Haven area, as they perform traditional steps, strolls, and salutes for a chance to win.
Lip Sync – Wednesday, April 8 in the M&T Bank Arena at 9:15 p.m.
Greek Week’s biggest event features each time performing a dance to a mash-up of songs that best represents their theme. The winners get the coveted Lip Sync Trophy.
There will also be an opportunity to donate to philanthropy during the Greek Week change challenge as well as any canned goods during our canned goods drive. Feel free to send your Bobcat back to Hamden with some nonperishable goods to benefit the New Haven Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. Keep up with all the Greek Week fun on Instagram at @qu_greek_week!
Save the date for FSL Awards 2026. We will be hosting our annual awards ceremony and reception on Thursday, April 16. We’ll be sharing a Zoom link for those who’d like to watch from home and cheer on the community! Ask your student for access to the link as we get closer.
There are still opportunities to join our community. Please direct your student to QUFSL on Instagram or via email to fslife@qu.edu. If your Bobcat wants to find their home away from home, establish a community of peers with similar values, participate in service/philanthropy events, and have fun, feel free to direct them our way for information about joining.

Look for an email from Student Affairs with the topic of the week, programs, tips and resources. This is especially helpful if you cannot get to the table.

Dates will be added all semester long so keep checking for one that works for you.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
We hope your student is enjoying a restful Spring Break! Our residence halls will reopen on March 15 at 10 a.m., and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for the final stretch of the academic year.
Room selection season is underway, and we know this can feel like a stressful time for students. Our team is here to support them every step of the way. Below are key upcoming events and deadlines we encourage students to participate in:
This session will cover how room selection works, tips for forming a group and what to expect on selection day.
We are offering two roommate socials for both rising sophomores and rising juniors to help students meet potential roommates and build groups:
March 17 at 8 p.m.
March 19 at 8 p.m.
Both events will take place in Larson Hall for rising sophomores and Troup Hall for rising juniors.
March 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Students can visit housing areas available for next year to get a better sense of their options.
Students who attend will be entered into a raffle to win the first pick in the room selection process. Rising sophomores should check in at the Student Affairs building and rising juniors should check in at York Hill Central Duty, Crescent 306.
March 20 at 11:59 p.m. – Roommate groups must be formed and fully matched on MyHousing
March 27 at noon – Selection numbers will be posted on MyHousing
March 31 – Rising Junior housing selection
April 2 – Rising Sophomore housing selection
If you were unable to attend the parent information session, you may view the full recording
We understand that room selection can be overwhelming for students, and we encourage them to take advantage of the info session, roommate socials and open house tours. These events are the best way to get questions answered, meet potential roommates, and feel confident going into the process.
As always, thank you for partnering with us to support your student. If questions arise, we are here to help.
If you or your student have any questions about the Housing Selection Process, our is available in the Office of Housing in the Student Affairs Center behind the Bobcat Den. We are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As we are coming to the close of the academic year, students should be especially mindful of their meal points. All students are encouraged to check their meal points at least once a week by installing the Transact app on their mobile device or accessing the Transact website. Comparing the actual meal point balance to the week-by-week guidelines will help students to stay on track.
Any leftover meal points will roll over from the fall to the spring semester. However, spring semester points will expire if they are not used at the end of the term.
Students with too many points have three options available to them:
Consider transferring points to another student.
Participate in the Tap Out Hunger program and donate meal points to charity.
This program opens in April.
Purchase food or beverages in bulk quantities directly from the dining hall to bring home.
Dining services offer limited items based on cost value at the end of each year. There is a sign-up process announced in April and pick-ups take place in the final weeks of the semester. Students will receive a notification when the bulk purchasing opportunity begins.
Students who have fewer points than the budget recommends can:
Negotiate a transfer of points from another student.
Supplement with Q-Cash.
The dining facilities accept Q-Cash and credit cards. Q-Cash acts as a debit account separate from the student's meal plan, and students may add Q-Cash to their account at any time by making a deposit on the Transact page. Parents and guardians can also make guest deposits. In addition to each dining location on our three campuses, Q-Cash is accepted at numerous establishments in the surrounding area.
It is important that students check their balances regularly to ensure that they are not over- or under-spending their meal points. Visit the Meal Plan Budgets and Staying on Track page of our website to:
Download the Transact app to your mobile device or log into the Transact website to check meal point balances.
View the average budget considerations and week-by-week guidelines

More than 1,000 students received ashes at Quinnipiac on Ash Wednesday.
The university is now marking both Lent and Ramadan and soon it will be Passover. The Office of Spiritual Life is sponsoring a series of allyship days in observance of these holy seasons.
On February 26, the office held a Muslim allyship day in which non-Muslim students, faculty and staff were invited to fast from sunrise to sundown for one day during Ramadan. Participants gathered in the evening to learn about Islam, break the fast with Pakistani food, and socialize with Muslim members of the campus community.
Similar events are planned for Lent and Passover in collaboration with Catholic, Christian and Jewish student organizations.
Follow along on Instagram @QUOSRL.
F-1 and J-1 visa holders who earned U.S. source income in 2025 are legally required to file a tax return by April 15. Even students who didn’t earn income still need to submit Form 8843 to the IRS if they were physically present in the US during 2025. OISS sent email communications regarding tax obligations starting January 28. Please have your student review their emails from oiss@qu.edu and the Taxes for International students page for more information.
F-1 students graduating in May are eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and should review the instructions on the OPT webpage.
Continuing F-1 students wishing to engage in an internship in the U.S. during the summer, must be eligible for and enrolled in a course requiring work and approved for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) prior to engaging in work.
OISS is looking forward to hosting the second annual Global Fusion Festival, a vibrant celebration of culture and community, on April 17. The event will feature an international fashion show, live cultural performances, and a global buffet showcasing flavors from around the world. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to join us for this festive evening.
Completed applications for summer 2026 short-term affiliate programs, Fall 2026 semester programs, and Fall 2026 faculty-led courses abroad are due by March 15. All students who are interested in applying for a program must have either attended a virtual information session or watched a recording of an information session.
Students are encouraged to reach out to study.abroad@qu.edu with any questions or attend in-person office hours on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 12–2 p.m. Office hours are held in the Office of Global Engagement in ABL 111 (across from One Stop and follow the offices to the rear back left and look for the hundreds of international flags hanging from the ceiling).

Consistent with the university policy, One Stop uses email as our official means of communication with students. We send frequent emails to students and to their proxies with important information that is time sensitive. All students are required to check their emails regularly.
Students with unpaid balances who are not on payment plans from the January and Spring terms will have late fees applied monthly. In addition, these students have holds on their accounts which will prevent them from registering for the Summer and Fall 2026 terms. Students and their proxies should access Self-Service to check for outstanding balances and pay accounts in full.
Please consult the Resolve a Balance Due page of our website for assistance as needed.
As required by the Internal Revenue Service, Form 1098-T is available to all students with qualified tuition and other related educational expenses paid during the previous calendar year. 1098-T forms are available through Self-Service when students login with their Quinnipiac credentials. Click on Tax Information and select 1098 Information to access your 1098-T statements.
With summer and fall 2026 registration just around the corner, the billing dates and payment due dates for Summer and Fall 2026 have been announced. Please visit the When is tuition due for Summer and Fall 2026 FAQ on our website.
Undergraduate registration is approaching. Students should check their email for a message from the Registrar with their registration appointment or view information on the Registrar's Information on Course Planning and Registration page.
Important: Students with holds on their accounts will not be able to register until the holds are resolved. You will know if you have a hold if you expand the Notifications under your profile picture and name on the Student Finance tab of Self-Service.

For questions, please email registrar@qu.edu.
The Parking Rules and Regulations will continue to be enforced. Please note the following reminders:
First-year students may not bring their vehicle to campus for the Spring term. Please do not bring a vehicle back to campus after spring break.
Sophomores must park their vehicles in the York Hill Garage.
Juniors, seniors and graduate students should consult the maps which show the parking permit types permitted to park in each lot.
Public Safety enforces all parking rules and regulations and will be ticketing and towing as needed.
Students with three or more unpaid parking violations will have a hold placed on their account and will be subject to towing until the violations are paid in full.
We want to gently remind families that the QU Student Code of Conduct remains in effect during Spring Break both on and off campus.
The Student Handbook defines a student as an individual from the time of application through the awarding of a degree, including periods between enrollment and during breaks. This means university policies apply regardless of location. Off-campus or online behavior that violates university policy or the law may still be reviewed through the university conduct process.
Spring Break can be a meaningful opportunity for students to practice decision-making skills. Open and supportive conversations with your student can meaningfully influence responsible judgement. We encourage open dialogue about:
Travel safety plans
Understanding local laws
Personal accountability
Looking out for friends
Making choices aligned with long-term goals
If concerns arise during Spring Break, they may be addressed upon a student’s return to campus. The conduct process administered by the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is educational in nature and focused on accountability, reflection, and learning. Our goal is not simply to respond to incidents, but to help students make informed choices that support their long-term success.
We appreciate your continued partnership and wish your student and your family a safe, restful, and enjoyable Spring Break.
If you have questions about the Student Code of Conduct or university expectations, please contact the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at studentaffairs@qu.edu.
The countdown to Commencement is on!
The cap and gown pre-order period has closed, however, all graduates are guaranteed a cap and gown and have received information on how to obtain a cap and gown if they did not pre-order.
A reminder that our Saturday and Sunday ceremonies take place outdoors on the Mount Carmel Quad. Tickets are not required. In the event of severe weather, we will move the ceremonies indoors to the M&T Bank Arena and tickets will be required.
