Waking the giant with featured artist Offset

Every year Quinnipiac’s Student Programming Board (SPB) amplifies the voices of hundreds of Bobcats at the annual Spring Wake the Giant concert, with cheers traveling from the arena to Sleeping Giant.

This year, featured artist Offset, an American rapper, is coming to campus. This is a selection many students are excited about with tickets selling out quickly.

Brandon Assi ‘24, executive board member and mainstage chair of SPB, is especially looking forward to this year’s concert.

“We’re very excited that we were able to even consider an artist of this caliber to begin with,” said Assi. “I’m personally looking forward to April 30 because I feel that even if you don’t listen to this artist, it’s more likely than not that you’ve at least heard of their name, and being able to bring a name with that much pull and awareness to campus is huge.”

With great excitement comes hours of hard work, explained Assi. Yet, it was all worth it once he saw the response from the study body, he said.

“Both my mainstage directors and I have put many hours of our time and a ton of effort into the planning of this event with the help of our campus life advisor, graduate assistant and the Student Programming Board president. It would be an understatement to say that we are very pleased with the response we have received so far,” he said.

A lot goes into the selection process, said Assi. This process includes rounds of selections and the analysis of past historical and survey data to help guide the decision.

"After this long process, being able to pick an artist with a popular genre and name that students wanted to see come to campus was very fulfilling,” said Assi.

Quinnipiac students can join in on the fun at “Wake the Giant” on Sunday, April 30 at 8 p.m. in the M&T Bank Basketball Arena.
