For the third straight year Quinnipiac University’s Women’s Soccer Club has qualified for the NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation Region 1 Tournament.

The tournament will run from October 22 to 23 in Chesterfield, New Jersey, and will consist of 24 schools that include one category for men and one for women.

Led by club president Hannah Stevens '23, the women’s club soccer team consists of an average of 23 players. Stevens shared what this outstanding three-straight-year qualification means to the team.

“Getting the opportunity to travel to the NIRSA Regionals Tournament is a reflection of all of the players’ dedication, hard work and commitment to the team,” said Stevens. “Building trust on and off the field, working off of each other’s different strengths and putting in time for practices, games, fundraising and more, are a few of the things that went into having a successful season this year.”

The tournament consists of eight teams spanning across six regions. If the team does well then they will qualify for the NIRSA Championship Series National Soccer Championship that will take place on November 17 to 19.

“We experienced highs and lows throughout the season,” said Stevens. “As a team, we took our lows such as tying or losing a game as learning lessons to know what to work on for next time. Staying positive, encouraging each other and being hungry for our goal to make regionals is what allowed us to have a successful season.”
