Quinnipiac student earns Greek Leader of Distinction Award

March 11, 2022

Michael Mulryan

Michael Mulryan, a graduate physical therapy student, earned the Greek Leader of Distinction Award at the Northeast Greek Leadership Association’s (NGLA) Annual Conference, which was held recently in Baltimore.

This award recognizes outstanding members of fraternity and sorority communities throughout the Northeast who exemplify the ideals of their fraternities or sororities in their daily lives.

Honorees are selected for helping their organizations and communities establish fraternal values, working diligently to build positive relationships within their chapters and fraternity and sorority communities, improving existing and/or critical problems in the fraternity/sorority experience, modeling the highest standards within the community in academics, scholarship, leadership development, philanthropic endeavors, and brotherhood/sisterhood, and providing exceptional and continued service to their own fraternity/sorority and campus community.

“I felt a bit shocked at first hearing of my selection for such an award,” Mulryan said. “The positive emotions I am left with, knowing that my work within the fraternity and sorority community has left enough of an impact on my peers that they felt it was necessary to nominate me, and advocate on my behalf for such an award is truly impossible to describe. Receiving any form of public recognition such as this is a great reminder that people see what you are doing, and that the positive impact we can have on others as college students is far from small.”

Mulryan is a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served as the Quinnipiac Interfraternity Council’s vice president for recruitment and philanthropy in 2020. In 2021, he served as the president of the Quinnipiac Interfraternity Council, and as the standards board chairman on Pi Kappa Phi’s executive board.

NGLA is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that works to develop and educate students and professionals in the Northeast. The association focuses on personal, professional and leadership development through educational experiences and programming that helps the fraternal community align actions with values.
