The Health and Aging Policy fellows program aims to create a cadre of national leaders who will serve as change agents in health and aging policy. Fellows take part in an intensive training program that includes educational and networking opportunities with Washington, D.C., policymakers and funding agencies.
Fellows are selected through a national competition based on their commitment to health and aging issues, leadership ability and interest in impacting policy.
“Aging issues are diverse and complex and require an interdisciplinary focus for improvement,” Mattie said.
“Quinnipiac is uniquely situated to approach these 21st century issues. I look forward to bringing back to our community potential contacts with funding sources and others in the D.C. policymaking community, and the skills and knowledge to impact change.”
The Health and Aging Policy fellows program provides professionals in health and aging with financial support, career opportunities and networks to directly influence the policymaking process. It is funded by, The John A. Hartford Foundation, The Atlantic Philanthropies and the West Health Policy Center.
Mattie, who joined Quinnipiac in 2003, has a law degree from the University of Connecticut and admitted to the bar in Connecticut. She also has a master’s degree in public health from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in health care management from Quinnipiac. Mattie previously served as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow on the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
