Students provide occupational therapy services in the Philippines

Several students in our School of Health Sciences spent two weeks in the Philippines providing occupational therapy services for young people with neurological and movement disorders.

"It was such a humbling experience and a great opportunity to spread knowledge about the effects of occupational therapy,” said Lauren Cooney ’17, MS ’19. “We had the opportunity to work with other professors and students from the University of Philippines-Manila, as well as Calapan town officials and the local disability group. Our hope is to create a sustainable year-round free clinic in collaboration with the connections we made while on the trip, with hope of returning next year to follow through with the clinic."
