Brianne H. Borgia
Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy
Director of Research, Physical Therapy
Dr. Brianne Borgia is an Assistant Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Physical Therapy. With an expertise in biomechanics and a strong track record of innovative research on mobility and injury prevention mechanisms, her work focuses on the effects of extrinsic factors, such as footwear, on mobility and gait, particularly in older adults. What began as an interest in running-related injuries and footwear has evolved into a focus on the underlying mechanisms of age-related gait deficits and the development of feasible intervention strategies to enhance movement quality and quantity across the lifespan.
Dr. Borgia has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Hartford and the University of Florida, where she explored treatments for plantar fasciitis and mobility interventions for aging populations, respectively. She earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a specialization in Biomechanics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, her M.S. in Kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach, and her B.S. in Exercise Science from Sacred Heart University.
