Dale Carlson

Having taught as an adjunct professor at QUSL since 2000, Prof. Dale Carlson joined the full-time faculty in 2014. He is a retired partner at Wiggin and Dana, having engaged in private practice at the firm from 1993 through 2013. Before entering private practice, Prof. Carlson was in-house patent counsel at Olin Corporation in Cheshire, CT and Union Carbide Corporation in Manhattan and Danbury, CT.
Prof. Carlson is past president and current historian of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association - the largest regional IP law association in the country. He is a member of the nominating committee of the Connecticut Intellectual Property Law Association, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Gateway Community College Foundation in New Haven, CT.
His research interests primarily relate to improving the patent system for the benefit of universities, small entities and individual inventors.
