Assistant Professor of Legal Skills

Jessica Hynes is an Assistant Professor of Legal Skills. She teaches courses related to legal writing and research.

Before joining the faculty, Professor Hynes spent almost two decades teaching law students and undergraduates legal research, writing, and analysis, as well as courses in mediation, negotiation, client counseling, family law, and education law.

Professor Hynes has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Legal Writing Directors, acted as an Assistant Editor for the Journal of the Legal Writing Institute, and presented her work at countless conferences around the country on issues relating to effective legal writing. She is also a mediator and mediation trainer, as well as the former President of the New England Association for Conflict Resolution.
Professor Hynes has published numerous articles and book chapters. Her scholarly interests include legal research and writing pedagogy, applied legal storytelling, alternative dispute resolution, and issues relating to gender and the family.
