Keyvan Mahboubi

Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology

I received my BS in Biology from Shiraz University in Iran, my MS and my PhD in Pharmacology from New York Medical College in Valhalla NY. My PhD dissertation was on the regulation of the inflammatory gene cyclooxygenase-2 by Tumor Necrosis Factor. I studied the effects of inflammatory cytokines on endothelial cells during my postdoctoral training at Yale University in the laboratory of Dr. Jordan Pober. My primary interests were exploring the induction of inflammatory genes and the activation of signal transductions pathways by cytokines in these cells. After my training at Yale, I joined a drug discovery team at the Institutes for Pharmaceutical Discovery where I contributed to drug discovery programs in multiple therapeutic areas including diabetes, inflammation, cancer, and asthma. I joined the department of Biology at QU in 2017 as an adjunct professor and I am currently an assistant teaching professor. I primarily teach introductory biology courses to Health Science majors and to Biology majors.
