Professor of Sociology and Women's & Gender Studies

Dr. Sardi is a Professor of Sociology and Women's & Gender Studies and is the Director of the Women's & Gender Studies Program. Dr. Sardi is also jointly appointed as a Professor of Medical Sciences in the Frank H. Netter, MD School of Medicine. She regularly teaches Introduction to Sociology, Social Control and Deviance, Sexualities, Masculinities, and Popular Culture & Media.

Dr. Sardi's main research interests include feminist theory and methodology, gender and sexualities, deviance and embodiment, human rights, the ethics of genital cutting, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has co-authored a number of articles discussing the ethics of routinized penile circumcision performed on infants and the ways in which the procedure is maintained and upheld in the United States. Dr. Sardi is currently researching the long-term outcomes of penile circumcision on adults.
