Quinnipiac University
Penny A. Leisring is a Professor of Psychology at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. She holds a B.A. in psychology and in child development from Connecticut College and she earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has led domestic violence intervention groups for male and female offenders. She conducts research examining physical, psychological, and cyber forms of intimate partner violence. Her work has been published in various journals including the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, and Trauma; Partner Abuse; Violence and Victims; Journal of Interpersonal Violence; Journal of Family Violence; Canadian Woman Studies; and the Journal of Comparative Family Studies. At Quinnipiac University, she teaches many courses including Abnormal Psychology, Child Psychopathology, and the Psychology of Women and Gender. She also supervises student internships in the community, is a mentor to students who collaborate with her on research projects, and provides academic advising.
