What is ETHOS?

Through public forums, workshops and interdisciplinary discussions, ETHOS connects Quinnipiac with surrounding communities to explore AI's cultural, civic and ethical implications. A student-led AI Ethics Peer Cohort anchors the initiative, developing a student-authored Ethical AI Guide and peer-education programming, building a scalable model for ethical AI education that extends beyond campus.

Building Community Conversations Around Ethical AI

ETHOS promotes ethical, integrity-based AI use through public events that spark intergenerational dialogue across Quinnipiac and the New Haven, North Haven and Hamden communities. It will produce accessible resources, including a student-authored Ethical AI Guide, peer-education models and replicable planning frameworks.

The initiative responds to a growing public concern: as AI reshapes decision-making in academia, workplaces, healthcare and public institutions, questions of authorship, responsibility, fairness and trust demand attention. ETHOS meets this need with a community-centered, humanities-driven approach – treating ethical AI use as a form of civic discourse through workshops, open forums and interactive presentations.

The initiative is reciprocal: students learn from ethical challenges surfacing in professional and civic life while co-creating guidelines for responsible AI use, and community members contribute professional and disciplinary perspectives to shared dialogue. Together, these activities build a scalable, humanities-based model for ethical AI education.
