The Quinnipiac University Podcast Studio aims to build and strengthen communities by elevating voices from all corners of society. The podcasts feature interviews with people making a difference in their world alongside important stories that reflect our shared values.
Quinnipiac pitches, hosts and produces a suite of more than 30 podcasts at any given time. From conversational podcasts focused on the studies and aspirations of current students to investigative podcasts that explore current events and issues through the lens of our expert faculty and staff, our playlists offer enjoyable and educational banter that's consumable by a wide variety of audiences.

Golden Mic Awards

Join the Quinnipiac University Podcast Studio and WQAQ Radio Station as we celebrate the best that Quinnipiac has to offer. The Golden Mic Awards recognize the hosts and podcasts that engage our audiences and make noise that matters. This year, our ceremony will award trophies to winners across four categories:

Most Viral
A panel of judges comprised of students, faculty, staff, and industry professionals will select the winners for Best Host, Best Overall Podcast and Best Production. The award for Most Viral will be given to the podcast that can demonstrate the greatest number of downloads, shares and audience engagement.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony and celebration from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 in the Student Center Piazza. In addition to trophies, the winner of these awards will take home an Amazon gift card along with other surprises. Food and refreshments will be provided for all attendees.
Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. Podcasts must have been produced between April 2023 and March 2024 and must have been produced and hosted by Quinnipiac students.

With his guidance, you'll learn how to develop podcast ideas and navigate the production process. He can teach you best practices, how to define and reach your target audience and how to produce a professional-level final product.

Director of Community Programming
Part-Time Faculty
Our director of community programming, David DesRoches, joins us from WNPR Connecticut Public Radio. He won five 2018 Connecticut SPJ awards, a 2019 national Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI), and was named to Connecticut Magazine’s “40 under 40” list. Working at the Darien Times, he earned a “Reporter of the Year” award from the New England Newspaper and Press Association in both 2013 and 2014. He also co-founded a nonprofit media company in Ethiopia called Project Image Ethiopia.

Our advisory board is comprised of university faculty and staff, along with alumni and community members, who meet monthly to discuss current podcast trends and new ideas, and how to improve our current productions.
