Pre-College Summer Programs

Human + Machine: Your AI-Ready Future

Learn to lead with AI, not be led by it, during this one-week AI camp at Quinnipiac University. Students who thrive in the coming decade will not just use AI. They'll understand how to use it effectively, question its outputs and maintain their own voices. Explore how AI is transforming education, careers and culture while practicing real-world applications, creating projects and debating ethical considerations.

Overview

No coding or technical background is required, only curiosity. Over five days on the Quinnipiac University campus, campers will develop a clear understanding of what AI is, how it works at a conceptual level and why it matters. They will test today's leading tools through hands-on activities and apply them in fields such as health care, media, business, sports and the arts. Team challenges and creative studio sessions will help students sharpen their prompting skills, evaluate AI outputs with a critical eye, and create original projects that combine human creativity with machine capabilities.

Ethics, responsible use and academic integrity are woven throughout the program, with structured discussions on bias, privacy, misinformation and authenticity. Students will leave with practical AI skills, a portfolio of creative and applied work, and the confidence to make informed decisions about technology in college, careers and everyday life.

The camp is led by Quinnipiac faculty member John Powers, whose professional experience spans communications, digital media, healthcare, secondary education and higher education.

At the end of this program, you’ll walk away with:
  • A clear understanding of how artificial intelligence works and how it is transforming industries such as health care, media, business, sports and the arts.

  • Hands-on experience using today's leading AI tools to solve problems, generate ideas and support creative work.

  • A portfolio of original projects that showcase your ability to combine human creativity with AI-powered tools.

  • The confidence and ethical foundation to use AI responsibly in school, future careers and everyday life.
