Dr. Teresa Twomey is an associate professor of nursing in Quinnipiac University’s School of Nursing. She is also the Director of Global Nursing Experiences. Dr. Twomey has been in nursing education for 16 years and her clinical expertise is in neonatal intensive care nursing, children with special healthcare needs and pediatrics. At Quinnipiac University she teaches Health Promotion and Wellness, Fundamentals of Nursing, Care of Children and Their Families, and coordinates clinical courses during nursing student’s junior year. Dr. Twomey’s passion lies in educating nursing students around the area of cultural relativism and leading them toward a path of holism and global citizenship. Over the past 4 years Dr. Twomey has led several nursing experiential learning trips to Central America where students worked inter-professionally with occupational, physical and medical students in a variety of community setting. Dr. Twomey also teaches a Health Promotion and Wellness faculty-led course that encompasses a short-term nursing experiential trip to Barbados. During this trip, nursing students work in various community settings with local healthcare provides educating the community on health promotion strategies. Dr. Twomey’s scholarly interests focus on her areas of clinical expertise and cultural relativism of nurses.
