New Careers in Nursing (Hartford HealthCare) Admissions

Hartford HealthCare colleagues must have met all the following criteria to be eligible for the program. 

• Be a colleague in good standing and not currently on a performance improvement plan or under any disciplinary action

• Receive a minimum of “meets expectations” on one’s performance evaluation (if applicable)

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in any major other than nursing from an accredited college or university

  • Alternatively, have earned an associate degree or a minimum of 60 transferable credits towards a bachelor degree

• Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (B)

• Complete all required pre-requisite courses within the last 5 years with a grade of B- or better:

  • Microbiology with a lab (4 credits)

  • Anatomy & Physiology I with lab (4 credits)

  • Anatomy & Physiology II with lab (4 credits)

  • Statistics (3 credits)

  • Intro to Psychology (3 credits)

Interested students who are not current Hartford HealthCare colleagues may also apply to this program. Students will be conditionally admitted to the program and connected with Hartford HealthCare to explore employment opportunities. Acceptance into the academic program will remain conditional until the student has secured employment with Hartford HealthCare.

The deadline to apply for the Spring 2027 cohort is January 1, 2027. The Spring 2027 cohort will begin in March, and students will graduate in May of 2029.

A maximum of 24 participants will be selected for this cohort of students. Please note that admission is competitive and that meeting the minimum admission standard does not guarantee admission.
