Judy Ruggiri has been a Registered Nurse for several decades. She began her career at Stamford Hospital and fell in love with the Cardiac Specialty Area. When asked why Cardiology, she responded “it required a combination of listening, learning, and teaching to help patients return to a healthy life”. Those simple actions became the hallmark of delivering compassionate care and can be observed in everything she does. She continues to work as a staff nurse on a cardiac floor in Connecticut.

She is a life-long learner and obtained a doctorate in Nursing which served as the motivation to teach at the university level. Her approach as an educator is guided by values and principles which include student engagement, creativity, and passion. She believes the educational process is a co-creation whereby the educator and the learners work together to create the learning experiences without compromise to academic rigor.
