Dr. Cindy L. Kern is an Associate Teaching Professor of Science Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Kern is committed to creating an inclusive, excellence-driven community in partnership with K-16 science educators across Connecticut to ensure, through research-based teaching practices, a rich and meaningful educational experience for ALL students. Her goal is to be a true partner to our regional science educators as they negotiate the ever-changing landscape of K-16 education.

Dr. Kern was a high school science teacher in Henderson, Nevada, for sixteen years, where she earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math & Science Teaching. She works with science teachers all over the world with a particular interest in Egypt and China. Dr. Kern currently serves on the University Curriculum Review Committee and the School of Education Technology Committee. At the national level, she currently works with the National Science Teachers Association, Association for Science Teacher Educators, and National Association for Research in Science Teaching.

A native of Las Vegas, NV, and marrying into Michigan has resulted recently in a dual obsession with the Detroit Red Wings and the Vegas Golden Knights.
