First-Year Student Applicants

For full consideration for the entry-level occupational therapy program, we strongly encourage candidates to apply Early Action I (November 15 application date).

Transfer Students from Within Quinnipiac

The BS/MOT program at Quinnipiac and occupational therapy as a career choice have both steadily increased in popularity over the years. To ensure that the program is meeting national quality standards, our total enrollment is capped and regulated by our accrediting body, Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Both Quinnipiac and ACOTE want to make sure that the resources are available for the number of students enrolled and that we are in the best position to serve the academic needs of our current students. Acceptance into the BS/MOT program as a transfer student is made on a space-available basis.

Admission Requirements

Your GPA alone doesn’t tell the full story of your academic strengths and talents. That’s why we look at many factors when considering each application for admission, especially as those factors relate to the specific program you’re applying to. We look at subject-specific courses you’ve taken and AP credits you’ve earned, as well as awards and other achievements.

Expected of all students:
  • High school transcript
  • A personal essay on a topic of particular meaning and interest to you which tells us who you are, and speaks to your values, goals and aspirations as a student
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or someone who can reflect on your dedication and work ethic
  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of mathematics
  • 4 years of science
  • 2 years of social science and foreign language
  • 3 academic electives

All students applying for admission are strongly encouraged to have at least 20 hours of observation in occupational therapy. The department is prepared to provide reasonable accommodations for students who have special needs or challenges.
